Server and server rooms
Measures and products for the noise protection of servers and server rooms.
As helpful as computers and servers are, noise emissions at work or at home near the devices can thereby be disturbing. In the case of computers or servers, the fans required for ventilation or the rattle of the hard drives are often disturbing. The frequencies here are usually in the medium to very high range. We explain here how you can shut down the computers and servers to a comfortable noise level. The following options are available - you can either insulate directly at the device or, in the case of large server rooms, in the room where the devices are located. In both cases, you can choose from a variety of foam materials. If you want to insulate directly at the devices, we recommend our flame-retardant melamine foams Basotect? G+ absorbers, which are available with various surface coatings, or our recycled PUR foams as well as our Teroform? plastic heavy layer/PUR foam combination noise insulation mats - where the first base layer of heavy plastic film is very efficient, since this heavy film not only reduces the sound of the metal but also insulates it. The materials mentioned above can be glued directly into the computer or server, or if there is not enough space there, you can encapsulate the devices and then attach the respective foam or heavy foils there. The thicker you choose the board thickness, the better the insulation will be - the plastic or bitumen heavy foil as a base layer is always recommended here, as this considerably increases the insulating effect. Our acoustic foams made of Basotect melamine foam are often used for this application because of their high fire protection. The composite foams, on the other hand, insulate best due to their high weight, but are maximally flame-resistant. Which of the two foam types you want to use depends on your preferences (fire protection, insulation). Please note, however, that there is an increased heat development in the devices if you insulate directly with foam. You can mitigate this by building appropriate ventilation ducts so that air exchange is always guaranteed. Especially in server rooms, our customers decide to insulate the room where the computers are located with foam or heavy foils. Doors are often a weak point. These can also be insulated afterwards. Here we refer you to our Productfinder Information Interior fittings (doors), where you will find everything you need to know about how to insulate doors with foam or heavy foils. Make sure you know which fire protection you have to comply with. If you are only allowed to use flame-retardant materials, only our foams made of Basotect can be used here. If you do not have any regulations here, however, it still makes sense to use at least flame-resistant foam, since the direct proximity of the electronics is not without risks.
