Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

The lightweight suction hose EVA 373 (or the variants EVA 373 AS (antistatic) and EVA 373 EC (electrically conductive) is characterised by its tread resistance and buoyancy. Due to its properties, the EVA 373 with its eponymous wall made of ethylene vinyl acetate is particularly suitable as a suction hose in industrial vacuum cleaners and for cleaning swimming pools.

The following hose types are electrically conductive: - Wall electrically conductive, contact resistance and surface resistance < 103 Ohm: PROTAPE? PE 322 EC, AIRDUC? PE 362 EC, CP PE 457 EC - Wall electrically conductive, contact resistance and surface resistance < 104 Ohm: CP VITON? 459 EC - Surface resistance PTFE foil < 106 Ohm: CP PTFE/GLASS-INOX 471 EC, CP PTFE/HYP-INOX 472 EC, CP PTFE-INOX 475 EC General information on electrostatic charging: When solids and liquids are conveyed through rechargeable pipes and hoses, electrostatic charging (= charge separation) occurs due to the friction of the conveyed material against the wall and the friction within the medium. The main dangers here are: occurrence of ignitable discharges which can ignite explosive mixtures of gases, vapours, mists or dusts. Accident-prone misbehaviour due to startle reaction during discharge via the human body. Process disturbance due to adhesion of the medium to the hose wall. Malfunction of measuring and control devices. While measures against hazard points 2 - 4 are largely left to the discretion of the user, there are a number of regulations and guidelines concerning the assessment and avoidance of ignition hazards and the protective measures to be taken. However, the safest protective measure is and remains to prevent electrostatic charges from the outset by selecting the correct hose. Thereby our products have proven themselves in practice for the following reasons: Grounding of the hose along its entire length.? Connections can be included in the earthing on both sides (saving of additional earth connections).? Embedded wire has maximum contact surface with the plastic (in contrast to externally applied copper strands). Spiral construction covers the largest possible part of the surface (in contrast to axially mounted strands). If desired, manufacture from antistatic or electrically conductive plastics.
