Heavy foils are mainly used for anti-drumming of metal and plastic components which are exposed to strong vibrations. By applying heavy foils the mass of these elements is increased and noise reduction is achieved. This is known as structure-borne sound insulation.
Heavy foils made of bitumen or bitumen-free plastic are also suitable for airborne sound insulation.
