How noise protection in the workplace increases productivity
Noise protection in the workplace is more than just a luxury for sensitive personnel. On the contrary: a pleasant, quiet working atmosphere ensures healthy employees. And they work more concentrated, more effectively - simply better.
Noise is thereby harmful to health
The construction site next door. The planes in the approach path. The traffic noise from the main road.
Noise sources are manifold. If the noise exceeds about 90 decibels, there is a risk of hearing loss. From 100 decibels at the latest, employees should wear ear protection to protect their hearing.
But very few offices are permanently exposed to these extreme noise sources. Instead, noise protection at the workplace is more about keeping average noise levels out of the office.
Because if these continue throughout the working day, the risk of chronic illness increases significantly:
Cardiovascular system: Long-lasting noises cause high blood pressure and an increased heart rate. Over months or years this can lead to heart attacks, arteriosclerosis and other cardiovascular diseases.
Stress: A restless environment triggers stress hormones. These cause short-term lack of concentration. Over long periods of time, the risk of illness increases.
Healthy employees work better
To avoid the health effects, it is worthwhile investing in sound insulation. Because healthy employees work better.
They are sick less often and thereby need paid time off less frequently and for shorter periods. But their efficiency also increases: they can concentrate better and thereby do more & better work in less time.
When does noise protection at the workplace help?
When noise from cars, trains and crowds of people constantly enters the office, we want to have peace and quiet as quickly as possible. But sometimes closed windows are not sufficient sound insulation.
